A Day With Mom Featuring ELOQUII

When it comes to celebrating Mother’s Day my family tends to celebrate on Saturday instead so that  we can avoid the Sunday crowds and so that my mother can actually use Mother’s Day as a day for her to relax at home. This year, our celebrations were a bit of a washout given the pouring rain that came from the weekend’s Nor’Easter storm. Anyone else would have wanted to call our plans off but my mother wouldn’t hear of it. As far as she was concerned, it was her day and she had new clothes that had to be shown off. So we got dressed and went ahead with our plans. I promised my mother that I wouldn’t interrupt the festivities with my blogging (her words, not mine) so I didn’t. However I did manage to convince her to do a mini shoot before the Uber came to get us.

Chic Pink, & Black With a Hint of Gold

Spring has finally sprung and that means sun, flowers, pastels, and some light layering, well at least it does for me. This year I didn’t get a chance to have some spring fun with my Easter outfit as I was working on some projects last weekend so I figured I should try to bring it to work instead. I’ll admit that until this point I have only had experience working in places with a rigid traditional work dress code so I feel very fortunate to currently work for a company that is a safe space for trying new styles. Ever since I bought this silky pale pink with black polka-dots blouse when I started college nine years ago it has been my go-to spring  work piece that I would normally pair with a blazer and pencil skirt so I decided to give this traditional work outfit a bit of a casual, cute remix. Velvet Joy

After a month full of nonstop work and holiday events I saved my favorite holiday look for Christmas Eve. I spent the day at church with the family which was followed by a late lunch by the East River before heading into Dyker Heights in Brooklyn to take in some of the gorgeous Christmas light displays.  It was a full day, but it was amazing because I got to spend it with my family. What made it even better was this Eloquii dress I purchased as a gift to myself.  This dress was everything that I could want for a holiday look — elegant, feminine and festive. 20161224_164529-4 Continue reading

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING GUIDE : EVERYDAY FANGIRL CHIC (PART 2)

Last week I shared with you my very first Christmas shopping guide that dealt with shopping for anime/manga fangirl and now this second list focuses more on Western fandoms, particularly animation, video games and comics, though I did include a couple live action films . Much like my first gift guide, some of the items listed are direct references to certain fandoms, with the rest being pieces that are much more subtle.  I’ve also included some commentary as how they can be used or styled for everyday use.  In an effort to remain budget friendly I made sure to list items that are  $60 and under, minus shipping though many retailers seem to now be offering free shipping due to holiday rush so that cost shouldn’t be as bad as it usually is. Happy shopping!

Sweater Weather Picks 2016

This year fall in NYC has been a bit of a tease, going from crisp, cool temps to summer sometimes even within the course of the same day. While I have yet  to fully swap my spring/summer wardrobe to my fall/winter collection, I am looking forward to refreshing my closet with some new pieces. I did some online shopping recon and noticed that this fall we have a great selection of comfy knits from various retailer. So I’ve complied a list of these chic sweaters and sweater dresses to prep for the cooler temperatures ahead. For this list, I made sure to have some budget-friendly options as well as some splurges that are well worth the price given their quality. Check out my picks below and let me know in the comments if you have any favorites.
