2020 Spooky & Cozy Halloween Sleepwear Picks

We’ve made it to October so you know what that means, spooky season is officially upon us!When it comes to holiday loungewear and pajamas I’ve noticed that it is more popular to buy specifically for the winter holidays like Christmas. Yet as most of us are spending more time at home and traditional Halloween festivities are not really an option, I figured that this may be the year that we look for some  non-traditional holiday options to wear at home. So I searched the internet for some and compiled this list for anyone looking for something cute, cozy and spooky to wear while watching their favorite Halloween films on tv for the  31 Nights of Halloween. Everything on this list is less than $40 before taxes and shipping costs.  Happy shopping!

Old Navy

While not plus, these unisex designs from Old Navy should still fit up to a size 3X as mens sizes tend to run much bigger compared to women’s. I particularly like the bat design in the middle and can totally see myself wearing that for a zoom call or Netflix Watch Party with my friends because who doesn’t like a good pun? Hahaha.

5 Items to Try While in Quarantine

I hope that everyone reading this post is safe and doing  well in spite of the current pandemic. I know that many of us have been coping with the stress and anxiety of this uncertain time by keeping ourselves occupied as best as possible, like baking bread and binge-watching some of our favorite feel-good shows or movies. As for me, I’ve taken the time to play some video games, read and try some new products, among other things. From fashion to skincare, I believe this is the time to try things we wouldn’t normally if we were still heading into the work. So today I’m sharing just  5 things I’ve tried recently that I found to be pretty great and highly recommend. Treat yourself if you can, and  if you are unable to do so at this moment, do like I have been doing lately –  save the links and treat yourself once you’re able. Happy shopping!

1.) Stars Above Perfectly Cozy Lounge Jumpsuit

For the most part, I don’t own  actual “lounge wear.” I tend to just wear pajamas whenever I’m home or house clothes, which mostly consist of nerdy/band tees, basic cotton short and of course, sweat pants. Yet once we passed the two week mark in the quarantine, I decided to finally purchase my first lounge jumpsuit. It is so soft and comfortable that it has become my go to when I’m getting dressed in the morning. (Its a good thing my apartment building has a laundry mat on the basement so I can keep this jumpsuit in constant rotation.)

In this one piece you have great balance of style and comfort that even works great for casual wear outside with the right pair of sneakers and even a denim jacket.  I’m already planning on purchasing the one in light grey as well because I could use it as cozy travel outfit . As for sizing, I got this in a size XL and it fit my size 16/18 frame just fine. I believe that the XXL would fit up to a size 22 because of how roomy it is. The best part is that it is you can get it from Target here for less than $30!

My Fall Lagom Style with Ellos

Earlier this month the Swedish plus size brand, Ellos invited a few influencers to embrace the Swedish concept of Lagom, meaning,  “just the right amount.” This concept is  the complete opposite of what Americans typically embrace due to our intense consumer culture which is the idea of “more is better,”  so I found the concept of Lagom fascinating as it simplicity, affordability and quality above all else in every part of everyday life including fashion.

Inside the Fitting Room: Target’s New Line – Wild Fable

I was getting ready to leave the office to head straight home for the weekend when I spotted an ad for the new line on Instagram. I scrolled through a couple items on my phone and ultimately decided to stop by Target by my apartment before heading home. What makes this line very special is that for the very first time Target decided to make every piece available in plus sizes. This is major as this is coming from a brand that at one point had no plus sizes available in store or online for a solid  2 years back in 2010. I greatly appreciate the fact that everything in this new size inclusive fashion line (sizes range from 0 to 26W) is quite affordable with everything from clothes and accessories being just under $40.

Took 10 items with me to the fitting room, only 5 were winners this time around.

While the plus size items are  hung in the space as the straight sizes, I should note one sad reality – a great number of these aren’t available in store so once again we are forced to do most of our shopping online. In following the line’s launch on social media, I noticed that some stores have more items available in plus than others so if you are dead set on trying things on before buying (like I am) get ready to travel to multiple Target locations. That said, I did try on some items from the straight size section that had some stretch and found that they fit just fine. Continue reading

V-Day, Me-Day

Five years ago a close friend and I decided to give “us” a try and my first thought that spring was how I finally had someone to go on my “dream date” with. Christmas is the time of year I actually consider to be romantic so when we broke up a couple of months later that summer, not only was I heartbroken that our “relationship” never had a real chance, but being “alone” again meant that  I couldn’t go on that date. For the rest of the year I moped about this. Well, I did until I took myself on the date instead and I found myself loving every minute to it.

This has become a bit of a tradition for me since then, though I have branched out of doing this solely in the month of December. And while I learned that I can enjoy my own company, I love that in the five years since that day I have met people with similar interests that I also can share  experiences with. I also take great care to show them just how much their friendship means to me at every opportunity including Valentine’s day.
