Though I consider myself to be a huge fandom nerd I’ve noticed that I prefer making up costumes out of things I already own or I buy things that I can incorporate into regular outfits over buying costumes. I guess it could be considered “subtle representation of fandom.” This was the kind of reasoning that made me buy this dress back in September.

Disney-ween 2020
One of the things I had planed for Halloween content this year was a series of closet cosplay and some vampire-inspired fashion. Unfortunately, the pandemic caused major delays in shipping and most of the items I bought actually wouldn’t make it to me in time for Spooky Season.
So my plans shifted a bit and I decided to still style some looks based on an entirely different theme – Disney! As a 90s kid, obviously I’m a major Disney fan, particularly of their animated features and I thought this would be a great way to have some fun with fashion and fandom. I challenged myself to style these two outfits with items I already own so I’ve made a point to include links to similar products just in case you wish to recreate either look this Halloween or just for cosplay at a later date. If you like these, be sure to head over to my IG for some more DIY Disney-inspired costumes/cosplay I’m sharing this week.
Snow White
This first look is a recreation of a costume I once owned which is what inspired me to do this project to begin with. Snow White is one of the first Disney films I recall ever watching as a child and I loved it enough to ask my mother to get me the costume to wear when I was 5 years old. My father even organized a photo shoot session in our house, complete with a plain blanket backdrop, that year for me to model the costume. I remember just having so much fun being a princess for a day and wanting to look perfect.
At the Pumpkin Patch
This weekend, not only was I able to get brunch with two of my dearest friends after 8 months apart, but we also got to go pumpkin picking for the first time ever at a local farm. I love this time of year because the colder temperatures let me wear some of my favorite staples like my faux leather jackets but also because I get to eat pumpkin-flavored food. Yes, I know that is totally cliché but whatever, I love pumpkin.
2020 Spooky & Cozy Halloween Sleepwear Picks
We’ve made it to October so you know what that means, spooky season is officially upon us!
When it comes to holiday loungewear and pajamas I’ve noticed that it is more popular to buy specifically for the winter holidays like Christmas. Yet as most of us are spending more time at home and traditional Halloween festivities are not really an option, I figured that this may be the year that we look for some non-traditional holiday options to wear at home. So I searched the internet for some and compiled this list for anyone looking for something cute, cozy and spooky to wear while watching their favorite Halloween films on tv for the 31 Nights of Halloween. Everything on this list is less than $40 before taxes and shipping costs. Happy shopping!
Old Navy
While not plus, these unisex designs from Old Navy should still fit up to a size 3X as mens sizes tend to run much bigger compared to women’s. I particularly like the bat design in the middle and can totally see myself wearing that for a zoom call or Netflix Watch Party with my friends because who doesn’t like a good pun? Hahaha.
That Autumn Feeling
Autumn is hands down my favorite season. The temperatures finally get cold enough to wear a sweater while enjoying a huge cup of tea with a good book, pumpkin, apple and cinnamon flavors reign supreme once more and I finally get to layer on scarves and jackets that make up my massive collection. Also darker style aesthetics suddenly become more mainstream making it easier to stock up on accessories and new clothes. Yes, we may all still be in quarantine but fall fashion is top of mind for me at the moment, even if it is still too warm for me to start layering.
Yet my “season transition style” this year has been inspired by black’s more colorful cousin, plum purple. This is an Autumn color that doesn’t seem to be as popular as harvest orange, wine red, or mustard yellow, yet I’ve been obsessed with it for years even though I don’t own much of anything in it other than some lipstick. So you can imagine how fast I pounced on this Torrid plaid skirt once I saw it on their site. Continue reading
