With the great amount of attention that we put on shopping for great outfits, we tend to ignore what lies beneath.  Foundation-wear is essential to looking great for every outfit that you put together which is why I was so excited to learn about  Curvy Couture from body positive designer and blogger, Alyssa Dalessandro of Ready to Stare at Curvy Con this year.

Curvy Couture is an online plus size intimates retailer that  sells lingerie and  bras internationally up to a H cup. As I got the chance to take a look at some of their bras in person at their booth I decided to order one for myself.  I’ve never owned a t-shirt bra  so I decided to order one in the color nude, a shade that has yet to grace my bra collection.  My favorite thing about my experience shopping at Curvy Couture was the fact that returns are free and the team is goes the extra mile to help you get the right fit.  I’ve had my new bra for a month now and it has become one of my favorites.  That said, I figured this was a great opportunity to discuss bras and bra shopping. So if you’re looking for a new bra or to just refresh your collection here are some points to keep in mind.

Super Casual Americana

Memorial day is right around the corner and while it marks a very solemn holiday, it is also the unofficial start to summer. This year I decided to welcome the season by embracing this purely American occasion of remembrance by dressing with pieces in our national colors. If anything it gave me an excuse to finally style this red plaid romper I received as a birthday present from my younger brother.  This piece is made of a lightweight cotton for a very cool and casual outfit, perfect for a memorial day family picnic at the beach or park.

Birthday Shopping Recon at Lane Bryant with Christian Siriano Collection Review

Those of you who follow me on Instagram and Facebook know that earlier this month was my 26th birthday. Celebrations this year have been very low-key, with some exceptions of course and most of this has to do with the craziness that has become my schedule in preparation for a couple of events that I am volunteering my time and skills to help execute. That said, the day of my birthday I found myself in Long Island doing some fashion recon at Lane Bryant.20160503_141000Of course the original reason behind my trip to LB was to check out the highly anticipated Christian Siriano collection. Unfortunately the Lane Bryant location I visited did not have many pieces from the collection in my size so I only got to try two pieces out of the four I wanted to try, though I made up for it by trying on some additional pieces that caught my eye, so check it out below! Think Pink – Shopping For a Cause

We’ve finally made it to October which means sweater weather, pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, New York Comic Con and, of course, Halloween. Yet there is one more significant thing  that occurs this month that is sometimes ignored during the rest of the year, that is breast cancer awareness.

The great thing is there are ways to help even if you can’t do so personally by volunteering  and do it in style. So if you believe that this is an important cause that needs to be spread, consider representing and supporting by purchasing and wearing something pink this month. I did some searching and found some great affordable “pink power” selections for the office, casual Sundays and even for those weekly workouts, all of which donates a  percentage of the retail prices towards the various nonprofit organizations and their work.
