Falling In Black Lace

Fall is playing games with my heart this year. Just when I thought things were finally cooling down, the weather decides to heat back up again to practically summer levels. I guess I shouldn’t complain too much though because it allowed me to wear something that would otherwise be a bit out of season.

Having a larger bust I don’t have much of a choice but to wear a bra, so I’ve been averse to off-the-shoulder tops and dresses for the longest time. I’d also heard so much about the horrors of strapless bras that I never gave them as much as a glance, however, a couple years  ago while shopping in store at Torrid, I decided to give a strapless bra a solid try as I had a strapless dress I wanted to wear to my job’s holiday party. I was shocked to see that it I actually held me up just fine and ever since, I’ve found myself gravitating more to off-the-shoulder tops a lot than I used to. (Lesson learned, if you like something at least try it once.) So it was inevitable that I would one day end up buying a one in a peplum style like this lace one. I mean, black lace and peplum? That’s basically my whole personality, hahaha.

I paired this top with some skinny jeans and booties, keeping my other accessories to a just this crown hat and my new bat necklace. (Clearly I’m not ready to fully let go of spooky season, haha.) I thought this was a great way to keep the lace detail and silhouette the center of attention. It is overall a delicate, feminine look that I’m glad I got to put together before it got too cold for it.

I bet that once fall temperatures finally makes its return to NYC, I’ll just drape my black denim jacket over this top to keep myself warm. Yet I’m still on the look out for a super cute off-the-shoulder sweater because if there was ever a time where fashion trumps function its right now under quarantine, don’t you think?

*Style note: This top has enough stretch and room that I recommend either sticking to your regular size or even sizing down.

Is it finally colder where you are? What styles are you looking forward to this season?
