So when it comes to plus size fashion there is one part that I tend to stay away from and this is shapewear. Thought I grew up in a fatphobic household you would think that this would be something that would have been a constant in my life but it wasn’t. Mostly this is due to the fact that my family’s goal was for me to lose weight and get smaller, not to smooth out any rolls or my belly.
That being said, I do acknowledge that there are some benefits to shapewear particularly when it comes to specific styles, such as bodycon dresses, and clingy fabrics. So I’ve been considering trying it out for myself and it was around this time that Shapermint reached out to me to try some of their pieces. Due to how sizing was listed on the size chart, I decided to size up in my selections in hopes that they wouldn’t be too snug. For the most part sizing up worked in my favor with one exception I hadn’t considered. Read on to learn more about that.
