When it comes to Valentine’s Day the immediate thought that comes to mind is the concept of sexy. I’m the kind of person that has never considered myself sexy by any means but I’ve noticed that what women in particular are drawn to is pretty uncomfortable. With the pencil thin heels, and revealing outfits in various shades of red and/or pink. There isn’t any necessarily wrong with that, yet I think being comfy, sexy and cute should always be an option if only to leave your date choices open to some non-traditional ideas outside of a formal dinner and a movie. For me any potential date, be it for Valentine’s day or otherwise, would involve a lot of walking since I love playing tourist in the city so in I would definitely reach for this comfy yet cute outfit.
I L-O-V-E sweaters with unique details so when I saw this oversized puff-sleeved sweater* I knew that I had to have it. It has a drop shoulder with a ruffle edge that borders the puff sleeves which end in narrow cuffs. The “Be Mine” graphic at the front is very holiday appropriate and not flat but rather textured so it stands out really well. It really is a top that you can dress up with skirt or down with some jeans.
I tucked the front in this curve-hugging scuba knit skirt thatI managed to snag for less than $20! The skirt is actually the shortest I currently own which is a MAJOR step out of my comfort zone. I’ve been constantly berated for even showing a hint of thigh by my family members because they believe that they should be more toned if they are going to be “displayed.” I decided to show them off in these pin dot tights to add some sophisticated edge to this look. I’m definitely looking forward to any V-day specific casual outings that may come my way this year.

*Style note: I should note that while I found this top to be surprisingly warm, it is thin and not lined so I did wear a cami underneath.
**An affordable styling tip that I live by is changing the strap of your handbag. This bag actually has a thick guitar strap that I adore however, I wanted to match the cute and delicate side of this look so I swapped it for this thin leather and gold chain strap that matched the gold of the front latch. It makes it look like its a new bag with that one detail changed.
