Boho Summer Dress Fun

I’ll be honest, once this lockdown period started I immediately stopped shopping for anything non-essential. Part of this was due to the uncertain financial situation but it also was because I wasn’t sure when I would be going out again. I went into my apartment in mid-March, during which I was still wearing turtle necks under my coat, and by the time I stated to go outside I had missed spring entirely. Not that I’m complaining too much about that because I actually got to have one spring without having to suffer through terrible allergy attacks.Anyways, being home has given me a chance to purge my closet (again) and style some old summer pieces in new ways as well as find any “style gapes” I may have. When it comes to summer fashion my closet is seriously lacking because I’m not a fan of this season (the humidity is no joke in NYC), so I don’t  give summer fashion much thought beyond bathing suits which says a lot about my priorities, hahaha. However, one thing I’ve noticed  is that when it comes to my (limited) summer style, I don’t really have a set aesthetic other than the fact that I rarely wear pants and that I tend to lean a bit onto more bohemian pieces because of the fabrics typically used for those particular styles. During the summer I avoid polyester, and chiffon, I lean more towards viscose, jersey and cotton fabric which breathe better in the heat and humidity which is why this City Chic tunic dress caught my eye almost immediately. It’s a piece that is made to be worn as a tunic, yet is long enough to be worn as a dress perfect for a picnic in the park, while also being light enough to work as a beach or pool coverup. Hands down this is one of the best new additions to my summer wardrobe.

Top Knot Headband | Torrid (old, similar here)

**Style Disclaimer: This tunic/dress is oversized so I highly recommend sizing down. I ordered a size 16 but it is super roomy especially on the top so I could have fit into the 14 with no problem.

How are you keeping up with your style during quarantine? Are there any  summer trends that you are trying out this season?
