As the song goes, “these boots were made for walking” and that’s exactly what I decided to do by making the trek into Lower Manhattan this past weekend. Honestly, it felt odd to be back in the city after spending so many months away, but it was a welcome change of scenery, which is pretty ironic since back in January I was complaining to my best friend about how much I hated my winter commute. If there is one thing most of us have learned this year is how much we appreciate even those things that once gave us grief. Anyways, I figured if I’m going to be in the city, I better look like the city girl I am, hence this outfit.

First let’s start with these boots! I’ve been dreaming of owning a pair of over the knee boots ever since I first caught a glimpse of them on Sailor Moon, which is honestly the reason I grabbed my luna crossbody bag as my accessory of choice for this look. I was never able to find a pair that fit my calI already own one other pair of such boots in tan, yet I actually have come to love these more because not only does the zipper trace the entire length of the boot, making it easier to put them on, but they also don’t ride down or need constant adjustments when you wear them. They are a true wide width and comfortable enough for super long walks. Sadly they are sold out online so I couldn’t provide a link below, but there is always a chance that they may be available in stores so I suggest checking them out just in case.
I paired the boots with this mini plaid dress from Avenue that I had been eyeing for a while. As a petite plus (I’m 5’4″ on a good day, lol), it is very difficult to find something in the proper length and I was pleasantly surprised to find this dress hits right at my knee which is the just the right length for my petite frame (and for showing off my new boots). I really love how it looks layered on top of this turtleneck and the fabric has the right amount of weight to it for fall and winter, so I’m pretty much set to face the cold when it comes in full force very soon. If you’re looking for a cute, plaid number I highly recommend getting this one It’s on sale and also available in red and white check as well as red and black!
