Winter Vamp Coat Style

It’s no secret that I have a thing for coats, jackets and blazers. I have quite the collection that manages to expand every other season or so, my favorites being more military and Victorian inspired in design, often times with a cinch waist.

Over the holidays one of my dearest friends, Tan gifted me this coat and I love it so much had to share it with you. Sure, winter is soon to be over, even so this is actually the best time of year to shop for a coat if you’re on a budget and in the market for a new one.

This fur collar Blushing Belle Coat is currently on sale (40% off!) and available in 4 other colors (Navy, Jade, Taupe, and Silver), but clearly the black one is my fav. What I really like about this coat other than its fit-and-flare silhouette the removable fur collar. It is a simple design detail that elevates the  this classic coat style but should you decide to dress it down a bit, you can just take it off.  I should note that the faux wool material is quite warm yet doesn’t have any stretch, so you should size up if you plan on wearing thick sweaters or hoodies with it.

I got so many compliments for this coat though I can’t help but wonder if it was also the way I styled it . I tend to treat outerwear as an extension of my outfit, almost like an outer-layer for the “main event” (hahaha), and for this coat I figured a monochromatic look with a pop of color would be the best way to make it stand out even more.  Now in the age of Instagram, it’s become almost taboo to repeat outfits, but I say wear what you love as many times as you want and if you want to change it up a bit, maybe play with a coat or jacket. For example, combined with this coat, the plaid dress, and turtleneck outfit is totally different from the first time I styled this dress. In this case I swapped the black turtleneck for a red one,  went with combat booties instead of the over-the-knee boots,  added my favorite onyx necklace and applied a black lipstick for some vamp goth fun.

A couple of friends and I are planning on taking the staycation weekend to have some Galentine’s Day fun together at a hotel and this may end up being one of the outfits I pack for the occasion. As this outfit was an intentional yet subtle nod to  “Valloween” it totally works for the occasion.
