Halloweentown 2022

Happy 13th day of Halloween!

The minute we finally made it to the best month on the calendar that is October, I made up my mind that this would be the year that I finally head up the Hudson River for some spook season fun. I did some research and came up with a pretty ambitious itinerary for a day spent in Sleepy Hollow, NY with my friends; though only one was able to make it in the end.

Still it was a day well spent that even left my friend, and trusty photographer, Diana wanting a bit more. We can’t report that we even caught a glimpse of the Horseman but at least we got to see the replica of the bridge during our walk through the historic cemetery.

Get you friends that supports your unique blend of quirky, spookiness.

When in Doubt, Wear Black

In the last two weeks I had the pleasure of getting to reconnect with two best friends after spending so much time apart and with limited communication due to our crazy schedules. One week apart and in two different cities, I had the best time catching up with them, reminiscing over past adventures and of course, making new memories.

Yet even still, both of them at one point asked me the exact same question that caught me off-guard and left me nervously chuckling as I changed the subject :

“Are you still blogging?”

You need only scroll down a bit to see that the last post I wrote and shared here was back in April.  Truth is at the time I was knee-deep in work for multiple projects and only just getting my footing at my new full-time role that I had started barely 3-weeks before I wrote that post on sustainability and plus size fashion.

I told myself that once those projects were done and I felt better situated in my new role, I would get back to work on my stuff, however, once that time came (which was in early June) I found myself uninspired to doing much of anything.  I was burnt out.

Sweet Like Deadly Nightshade

Fun fact: When I was growing up, my father had major aspirations of my brother and I becoming child models. Every so often he would put up a white bedsheet on one of the walls in the living room, get some props and outfits together and we’d have our own photoshoot sessions right at home. I still have the albums full of the photos including the professional ones that he had done to send to modeling agencies. Neither my brother or I ever got a modeling contract as kids (Not for lack of trying, I mean we were adorable but I guess that wasn’t enough, hahaha) but at the very least we have the memories.

At the start of quarantine last year, my brother was actually the first one to point out that I could not use the pandemic as an excuse for not continuing to take photos and create content. According to him, I’ve been “trained for in-house photoshoots” and now I even have more space to work with than we did growing up. I initially disagreed because working in one space can be pretty limiting, but in time I took up the challenge, working around issues with lightening (my apartment is intentionally dark in certain spaces) and even did some much needed furniture/decor shopping which I had put off for the last 2 years.

I’ve done quite a bit of shooting at home as a result, some of which I haven’t shared yet, but I wanted to try my hand at something “different” for this new year. So armed with my trusty tripod, selfie light, new make up, new bedding and a lux velvet set I bought as a Christmas gift to myself, I figured it was time to try something way, way outside of my comfort zone – my own boudoir shoot. Summer Noir (feat. Foxblood)

It is rare for me to have a moment when I see something and think to myself that “I must have this” and immediately buy it without much of a second thought, but it when it does happen its probably because  Foxblood dropped something new on their site.  (Even if it is something that I have to purchase via Afterpay, I make it mine.)   The minute I saw this wide leg, tie top jumpsuit as I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, I gagged.  It is everything I’ve ever wanted in a summer outfit that I didn’t even have to look for.

theCURVYcon 2019 Recap

This post is super late but hopefully worth the wait. My original plan was to edit a video of clips I took at theCURVYcon this year instead of a written post but my computer had other ideas so here we are, haha. That said, I’ve got to say that Cece and Chastity weren’t kidding when they said that the theme for the 5th annual theCURVYcon was homecoming. From the decorations, the themed after party to the warm reunions we all had with other curvy ladies that traveled for this major fashion event. Continue reading
